Eternal Investigators

Hey Y'all!!

We had a busy week, but number wise for some how that did not show. My comp was kinda freaked/disappointed/stressed that our numbers were so low. I just laughed and pulled out my planners from my first and second transfer and said "do you want to see low numbers for real?" Ha ha geez I am so grateful for my transfers with sister Moran! They helped me to really be able to not take things too seriously or get too worked up over things. I am way good at working hard, but using temperance and having fun at the same time! I would not have learned that as quickly had I not had my first two transfers go the way they did.

So anyway news from the week. Well first off we did not have a baptism. Actually quite the opposite, all three of our previously progressing investigators are no longer progressing. Sirenia and Aurelio are getting the drop talk this week and Minerva just keeps being wishy washy so our District Leader has seriously just taken over on that one and is "handling" her right now. So ya they are eternal investigators for now. They will join the church eventually but apparently now is not their time. But hey that didn't get me down (once again, too much experince with this type of stuff to take it too seriously or personally). We do have some new investigators we are working with. One of which Sister Dodge and I have a REALLY good feeling about! She is so elect!!!! Her name is Joy, she and her husband Greg have two kids, Liberty and Elias. They are raising their little family like with all the standards that we have, when sister Dodge and I left their house we were like- woah they are practically mormon! Ha ha SO ya we are way excited about them! It was so crazy cause we went to call them on Saturday to remind them about church (they didn't come, but that's ok- we'll get 'em!) and as we dialed in the number their name showed up! They were already in our phone! CRAZY!!! So we scanned the area book thinking that somehow some missionaries must have taught them, but no, they aren't in the area book anywhere!!! So weird! Ha ha but cool!

Also this week we had Zone Conference! Love it!!! President talked about a lot of different things and one of them was about how our mission is growing, in two more transfers we will have 180 missionaries!! So we are going to be opening up new areas and splitting up into more zones! My zone right now has 22 missionaries which is like the max. So as President was talking about mission sizes and stuff he was saying that the smaller missions have like 65 missionaries and I raised my hand and said my brother in Denmark has like 54 missionaries right now in his mish. My president was like "geez that must be a piece of cake for his mission president! Man what do they have to get like 2 baptisms every month?" lol then he said, just kidding I am sure it's a great mission! Ha ha but that was funny! One of my favorite things that President said at conference was "I don't care if you bring 'em in or bring 'em back!" That was cool to hear especially cause we have a bunch of less actives we've been working with! We only had one investigator at church (Minerva) but we had 5 less active families that we've been working with show up!!! That was way sweet!

So also this week we had the Kyle Stake Young Women's Basketball Tournament and the San Marcos ward took Second Place!! My girls did great! I for sure think they would be first place for sportsmanship!!! They didn't play dirty or anything and they had fun! It was awesome! But now that its over I am so sad cause I won't get to spend Tuesday nights with my girls anymore! But hey it's all good I see them at church and they text our phone sometimes! I love those girls!!!

So I bore my testimony yesterday (we had fast Sunday this week cause we have stake conference next week) and I told the ward how much I love them and how a lot of missionaries say it's going to be hard to leave their area cause of their investigators but I am gonna have the hardest time leaving cause I don't want to leave all of MY members!!! I love those guys and they have strengthened my testimony so much! I make sure I tell them that all the time! :)

Ok well in other news I am doing well and Sister Dodge and I continue to compromise and figure things out. We have interviews with President this week and I will be telling him that I want to stay here in San Marcos with Sister Dodge next transfer. It does'nt mean it's going to happen but there is a good chance that it will. So ya things are a going in San Marcos, I bought a guitar last week and one of the members from the ward is coming over once a week during our lunch time and helping me learn to play. I want to play primary songs on the guitar and that way Sister Dodge can sing and I can play. Cause right now Sister Dodge will sing at lessons (She sings really well and it really brings the spirit) and I just sit there and watch! Ha ha so at night time before bed I am practicing guitar! Fun!! Right now I don't have my guitar it is at a member in the ward's house. He is gonna pimp it out for me!! He is a graphic designer so he is gonna come up with a way sweet mission/Texas design for me and print it out on vinyl and put it on my guitar!! I am so hooked up here in the San Marcos ward! :)

Alright well thanks to Gma Betty for her V-day card and C for her V-day card and also letter. Thanks to Adam for your letter and super cool envelope!! Keep on writing y'all! This is the last week for the envelope contest!!! I will announce the winners next email!

Love Y'all

Get in the Water

Hey Y'all!!

It has been a crazy week! But GOOD!! Where to start, I don't even know! lol I guess I'll tell ya about me and Sister Dodge. Well first off at the beginning of the week she was having a REALLY hard time. She even called President, I don't know what she thought he was gonna do, there is no way he would ET (Emergency Transfer) after only one week. President told her to communicate with me and to do what she can and can the rest (a common P-Cut phrase). So she did. I served her and continue to serve her, I have compromised and we decided together to throw out our old ways. I think it was tough cause we both came fresh off of our trainers and so we had to learn how to take some of our ideas and compromise and what not. But things are going really well now, we have come up with our own way of how to work here in San Marcos and our goal for this transfer is to set San Marcos on FIRE!! Things are really picking up and we are getting along quite well, we are actually praying that President will keep us together in San Marcos next transfer too! Sis Dodge had a rough time with the transition but now she seems to be doing swell.

So as far as the work goes- so sweet!!! My above subject line is directed at Minerva (not that she reads my emails or even understands English for that matter!) but ya she wants to be baptized this Saturday! Now I am being a little bit of a skeptic I guess cause she has backed out of 3 baptismal dates previously, but I think that she might actually go through with this one! It would be pretty sweet if my first baptism was teh very first person I ever taught! So ya our District Leader is coming with us tomorrow to the appointment we have with Minerva and he is going to give her the baptismal questions. So ya hopefully things got through and I have my first baptism this week, pray for Minerva please!! Ok so also we had a great lesson with Sirenia and Aurelio. We went over the baptismal questions with them just to review and to show them how much they do know! It was pretty cool cause as they answered the questions it was like they were bearing their testimonies to us without even knowing it!!! It was funny though when we got to the question asking if they believed that Thomas S Monson was the prophet yada yada and they were like, who is that? Our member that we brought with us looked at us and I was like ooops! We didn't teach you about that yet! Ha ha so we found one thing we still need to teach. So this week we have an appointment and are going to teach about following the prophet and also talk to them AGAIN about marriage. they are praying this week about it and we told them that at this apt we are going to set a goal for their wedding and baptism. They were good with that, they said that having a goal or a date to work towards will help them. SO pray for them too. They need to get married! Geez! ha ha

So in other news Valentines Day is a horrible day for missionary work in the United States. I don't know if it effects Denmark or Uruguay or Ecuador as much, but man here in Texas NO ONE wants to talk to us on Valentines Day!! We tried to go knocking and that was not successful then we tried to street contact but it was a cold day like 55 so no one was outside! Geez!!! But somehow sister Dodge and I still had a good day and managed to get our EBP which means we talked to 10 people other than tracting. We also had a super sweet dinner with the Wildes and sis Wilde being an RM and all and also being stink'n awesome is some one I ask for advice a lot! SO I asked her for some tracting advice and she ran and got some of her old mission stiff and make copies of handouts and gave us a little training right there in her living room and had us do role plays and everything! ha ha it was sweet! Sis dodge didn't like it too much, it's pretty funny cause most of the members that I LOVE she doesn't and ones that she really likes I don't, so it sure works out! :) SO anyway back to Valentines day- the best part about it was all the mail! Geez, I am trying to remember who all sent me stuff. I got a super sweet package from Jennie, thanks girl! I got an amazing t-shirt and planner from Denmark- You rock Kev! I got a way cool letter from c and also the bracelet back. I got cards from aunt Janelle, the madsens and um I am trying to remember, geez I got a bunch of mail this week! SO sweet!! Thanks to all of you who wrote/ sent stuff! You made my day!!!!!!!!!! Also the envelope contest ends in two weeks so get yours in! So far Kev, Max, Uncle Jeff and C are all in the running!! Send in more to try and secure first place! Oh and thanks Uncle Jeff for the way sweet break down of the Christmas dunes trip I loved all the pics and stories. Seriously I am so spoiled, y'all send me the best mail and tons of it too!! I love being a state side missionary ha ha!!!

So more things, well the day after Sis Wilde’s lesson on tracting, I put all of her advice in to practice and guess what... it worked!!! We had a 30 minute lesson on someone's doorstep with an opening and closing prayer and everything! And we are gonna go back, also we got another lesson with this way sweet chick who is now a new investigator!!! Geez! Life is good! I am so grateful for all of the awesome people who give me advice and help me out! I have like my own board of directors! Companies have them, why can't I? I have got tons of people at home that are on my board of directors and also there are some sweet people here in San Marcos who are on it too! Man I am blessed to have so many people who I can go to for advice and help and support!

Well the work continues to go well here in San Marcos and I am loving life! I am so grateful for all of the struggles that I have had and continue to have because they make the successes that much sweeter!!!

Well I love y'all and hope you have a great week!

Smiling all the while,

Chrysler and Dodge!‏

Hey Y'all!!

So first things first I have a new companion! My new companion is Sister Dodge. She and I were in the MTC together in the same district. Think about that one for a second... yup that's right that means that we both have only been out for TWO TRANSFERS! President was either desperate or has a lot of confidence in us, I really am not sure which one yet! lol So ya I am senior companion after 3 months on the mission. What is that all about?!? lol But ya, Sister Dodge and I are NOTHING alike!!! Geez, I wish I had a picture to show you cause right there that says a lot, but I forgot my cord today so you'll have to wait till next week! But anyway, we have already had a few little rough patches in the 5 days we've been together (that's promising huh?) lol but it's all good. I think Sister Dodge is going to learn a lot about loosening up this transfer and I am going to learn a lot about patience and compromise. Fun fun!! I tell ya I am growing so much on my mission!!! Most y'all won't even think I am the same Kristi when I come home! lol

So onto the work.. we have been able to do some work as of late except for I have had a lingering sickness from last week that has kept me down a bit- so frustrating! But anyway we have been able to do a lot of finding and stuff. We taught Sirenia and Aurelio about tithing. Ha ha man you have to just picture it in your head, these two sweet little Mexicans trying to understand two white girls who only know a little bit of Spanish! ha ha but hey the spirit must be working on them cause they both came to church yesterday!!! Sweet! Together as a family they came and Diego went to Nursery-score!!!- and I think Sirenia and Aurelio liked church and felt welcomed. They left right after so I didn't get a chance to ask them what they thought but we have an appointment with them on Wednesday and sister Machuca (a member from Puerto Rico) is coming with us so that wil help and we will see where we will go from here. Hopefully marriage, but with them moving like in a few weeks, I don't know if that will happen. SO anyway we had another little sweet surprise at church yesterday- Minerva showed up! Remember her, Sister Moran and I had been teaching her, but she had backed out of 3 different baptismal dates and then she and her husband started going up to the Spanish ward in Austin. So we saw them show up at church and I asked her husband what they were doing there and he said just visiting, so I was like okay. Well then at the end of relief society Minerva comes up to me and asks when we are coming out to her house. I was all, um I dunno I can't come teach you when you are going to another ward. She said no no we are coming here now. I said fine but I still am not going to come teach you. She was like why, I said I am not coming unless you are getting baptized. She said she wants to and we will plan her baptism when we come. I kept telling her I didn't believe her and we weren't gonna come! (I guess I was playing hard to get, lol) She finally convinced me that she was serious about getting baptized this time, so I set up an appointment and I got a member to come with us, Sister Packer, and so that is this Friday- we will see what happens with that. She is ready to be baptized, she could be baptized tomorrow, it's just whether she is going to follow through with it. I told her I wouldn't believe it til I saw her actually dunked in the water! lol So ya that's what we have going on right now- all Spanish investigators! Ha ha Sister Dodge and I will be improving our Spanish quite a bit this transfer I'd say! :)

Well ya all goes well, I keep learning and growing and loving every trial and challenge because they just keep making me better! As for mail- I didn't receive a single letter this week, but I assume you all are just working on your super awesome envelopes cause you want to win the contest! lol So I hope to hear from y'all soon! I love ya all a ton and appreciate your love and support- it keeps me going! Until next time!

Much love,
Hermana Kleisler

New Pics from San Marcos

This first one is my whole district (plus zone leaders) We had district shirts made! They are pretty cool. The symbol means baptisim and then it says or and has a skull which symbolizes die. SO it is baptize or die! Sweet sauce!! Then the sleeve says tsam and has a 5 (our district baptisimal goal for the month of January). So ya From Left to right you've got Elder Squire (my DL), Elders Sloan and Burr (the Kyle Elders- they are super sweet, we are buds!) Elder Askew (Elder Squire's comp), Sister Moran and I then on bottom our zone leaders Elders Hutchings and Rindlisbaucher and then they were training this transfer so that is their boy Elder Hansen.

Then the other two pictures are things we saw while we were out working in the country yesterday! Ha ha we went out to do some visits and saw some horses and then that sign is on the side of a highway and we always pass it and say we should take a pic cause it is so funny! :)

Podria haber sido peor (It Could Have Been Worse)‏

Hey Y'all!!

The above comment is what I had to keep telling myself last week! What is worse than a companion who has a random side pain that no one can diagnose? How about a comp with a random side pain no one can diagnose and also virus. What is worse than that? When that said comp gets me sick too!!! Ya so this week sister Moran caught some kind of bug and then passed right along to me! So we spent the ENTIRE week sick!!! It blew! I had a fever of 102 and was throwing up and coughing and it was just miserable!!! We were well taken care of though by our amazing ward. I had people bringing me sprite, applesauce, medicine, dinner and even Krispy Kreme donuts to help us get better! :) It is such a blessing to be in such an amazing ward and the best part is I get to stay!!! Ha ha Ya we got transfer calls last night and the good news is Kleisler stays in San Marcos! I had several members of the ward calling me this morning to find out if I was being transferred or not. They were all very relieved as was I! It is way sweet to have so many good friendships in the ward, it helps the work so much!

So as far as my new companion goes, I don't know who she is yet! I figured I prolly should explain the whole transfer process to y'all cause even if you have served a mish, every mission does it different. So this is what happens here in the TSAM. On Monday night the week of transfers we get "transfer calls" the assistants to the President call every companionship and tell each missionary whether they are staying in their area or whether they are going. So then the next day on P-day if you are going then you pack. Then on Thursday morning there is a Transfer meeting in San Antonio that all the missionaries serving in San Antonio and all the missionaries who are going home, no matter where they are serving in the mish, go to San Antonio for the meeting. At this meeting the missionaries who are leaving bear their testimonies and then the assistants to the president start calling off names and then when they call your area they tell you who the comps are and they run up to the front of the chapel and hug each other (this is particularly funny with the elders!!) and then you join your zone and sit down. Well if you are being transferred up to Austin you don't find out anything until the Austin transfer meeting. Which takes place in the afternoon up in Austin where they also call out the names. Now if you are up in Austin and you are going down to San Antonio then you don't find out who your companion is until later afternoon at the second San Antonio Transfer meeting. So ya there are three different transfer meetings, you usually only go to 1. This week I will be going to 2. I have to go down with Sister Moran to San Antonio and then come back up to Austin to find out who my companion is! So ya hope that isn't too confusing, but that's how transfers work.

Alright well, being sick and all this week we didn't work much at all so there is not much to report. We got burned a couple times yesterday so as of now we have zero progressing investigators and not really any potentials either. Well it is a great place for my new comp and I to start- from ground zero there is only one way to go- UP!!! When the AP's called they did tell me that my new comp and I are going to be little work horses and get along great! I am so excited!! I have an idea of who it's going to be, there only 16 sisters so I know all of them.

Alright well, thanks to y'all for the awesome letters this week- Kilie, C and Adam. And I had a brilliant idea yesterday for a contest!!! I am hear by setting up a "Coolest Envelope Contest" I got a way neat one from c yesterday and it sparked an idea. From Now until the end of the month y'all send me letters with the coolest envelopes you can create and then on March 2nd I will pick the awesomest one! There will be a first prize and a second prize. First prize is a special package sent to you from me! Second prize is a cool Texas merchandise item sent to you. There is also a participation prize- all who enter aka write me, will receive a super awesome letter from Hermana Kleisler!! What could be better than that!!? Ha ha So ya start sending me those letters with super cool envelops. Get creative! There is no limit to the number of envelopes you can submit! The more you send the higher your chances of winning! :) You have until the end of February to Enter the super awesome contest! :)

Ok well I had better go now! Hope y'all have an awesome week and I will tell you next week all about my new companion!! :)

Love ya much,
Hermana Kleisler
